Journey to Japan

Today I woke up at 6am, which is the usual time I get up to get ready for school.  But I did not go to school today…I went to Japan!! The morning was busy, we were all rushing around to finish packing our bags.  We drove from our house in Ixonia to the airport in Chicago.  My Dad dropped me off at the airport train station, and parked the car.  We then went to Terminal 3 and after we checked in and went through security, we got to go to the Admirals Club.  I played in the kids room, they had computers with games and other things for my sister and I to play with.  After a little while, we had to go to the gate for boarding our plane.  The plane was a Boeing 777 – which is huge!  We walked on to find our seats – mine was seat 10J, right next to my Dad in 10H.  My Mom and my sister were in row 9, right in front of us.  Our seats were awesome!  The seats were adjustable and could even go all the way flat so we could sleep!  I had my own TV, and could pick whatever movie I wanted.  The seats had lots of “secret” storage areas to put my stuff.  I brought crayons, coloring paper, books to read, and my iPod.  There was a special bag at each seat with tissues, a toothbrush, lotion, socks, earplugs, toothpaste, and a sleeping mask.  And, we each got our own pair of headphones.  After we got settled in our seats for the long flight, the flight attendants came around with drinks.  I had water.  After we took off, they came around with more drinks, and this time I had some apple juice.  They also took my dinner order – I chose the salmon and salad for an appetizer and shrimp noodles with a side of rice for my dinner.  Then the best part was dessert – a hot fudge sundae!! It was delicious.  After watching some movies, I got some sleep while my Dad worked on his computer.  I woke up and had a bowl of berries.  Then my Dad helped me write this first blog entry.  We still have 3 more hours until we land in Tokyo.  After we land, we will take the shinkansen (a super fast train) to Nagoya, where a man named Kenichi is going to meet us and help us get to our hotel.  We have a gift of chocolates from Wisconsin to give him.  Gifts are very important in Japanese culture.
